Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon has urged residents to take necessary precautions following the observation of haze over Metro Manila.
In a public advisory, Biazon noted that many residents may have already noticed the hazy and smoky conditions in recent days.
May naobserbahan kasing haze sa Metro Manila at ilang bahagi ng bansa,” the mayor said.
“According sa assessment ng Department of Environmental and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau, posibleng dulot ito ng usok mula sa mga patuloy na sunog sa Kalimantan, Indonesia,” he explained.
Local monitoring data showed a concerning decline in air quality in Muntinlupa as of Tuesday morning.
The city government is continuing to monitor air quality conditions and future advisories from national agencies. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to limit outdoor exposure whenever possible.
“Habang mino-monitor natin ang air quality at ang mga susunod na advisory, mag-ingat muna tayo at, as much as possible, bawasan ang exposure sa labas,” the mayor said.
He advised residents who need to go outdoors to wear appropriate protective masks, particularly N95 masks or their equivalent.
