5-Year-Old Math Wizard Wins Big: Mayor Isko Praises Young Manileño’s International Feat

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso celebrated the outstanding global achievement of five-year-old local prodigy Gadiel Alexavier Dorig. Dorig secured the Bronze Award in the Kindergarten Category at the prestigious Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad Final Round 2026.

Expressing his immense pride in the young math wizard, Mayor Domagoso, in his Facebook post, praised Dorig for demonstrating exceptional academic talent on a global stage at such an early age. “Limang taong gulang pa lang, pero pang-international na ang laban! (Only five years old, yet competing at an international level!)” the city mayor exclaimed.

The local chief executive highlighted how the young achiever serves as an inspiring example of the potential and excellence found within the nation’s capital. “Bata pa, pero pinapakita mo na kung gaano kagaling ang batang Maynila! (You are still young, but you are already showing how talented the children of Manila are!)” Mayor Domagoso added.

The city government continues to applaud Dorig’s remarkable international recognition, which brings immense honor to the entire Manila community.
