Mayor Joy Belmonte Urges Grads to Empower Marginalized Sectors

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte reminded future leaders that governance must actively serve and include all citizens during her keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Philippines Academy of Political Management (Batch 13). In her message, she highlighted the core role of civic engagement, stating, “Democracy exists for one fundamental purpose— to build a longer table. To empower people not only to raise their voices, but to shape the agenda.”

Congratulating the graduates of Batch 13, the local chief executive challenged them to use their newfound skills to champion genuine inclusivity in the country. She urged the class to amplify the voices of everyday citizens and create meaningful opportunities for forgotten communities.

Mayor Belmonte encouraged the graduates to serve as beacons of guidance for the nation as it navigates toward a brighter future. She emphasized that public service and political management must remain grounded in collective progress for the homeland.

Highlighting her ultimate charge to the new graduates, the Facebook post concluded with a call to unwavering commitment to the nation. “Lagi’t lagi, para sa bayan (Always and forever, for the nation),” the mayor’s message reaffirmed.
